Floyd Ross Wight was born on 15 February 1946 in Wyoming. He was a Santa Ana, CA College Student when he received his Naval Reserve appointment to the US Naval Academy. Floyd was the son of Mr. Floyd E. Wight and Mrs. Betty Wight (Ross), 405 E. Camille, Santa Ana, and graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1964. He was an electronics technician in the U.S. Naval Reserves at the time of his appointment. He attended Santa Ana College for two years before receiving orders to report to Annapolis on June 29, 1966.
Floyd had difficulties with the rigors Plebe Year, but he never gave in and survived to become a Youngster. He resigned from the Academy in August 1968, after completing Youngster Year. He then returned home to his family and beloved basset hound. Sadly, Floyd passed away in Garden Grove, CA on June 1, 1983.
